(20), 338, (12) pages.Title-page printed in red and black, with engraving of the Tower of Babel; 10 engravings in text; woodcut ornaments throughout. First published in Antwerp in 1605, the first edition in English 1628, then this the 2nd English edition in 1634. Bound in contemporary calf embossed in blind, marbled end papers, red morocco label in gilt back, Very Good, some scattered early scholarly marginal notations in ink, the book plate of Winifred M. Oliver-Jones front paste down, the boards rubbed, seller's pencil notations and 2 small scholarly clippings concerning the author and the book's contents at front end pages. According to the clipping pasted in at front end page -"A learned work, dealing with the Anglo-Saxons and their German origin; the Danes and Normans; ancient English tongue, with vocabulary; Saxon proper names; surnames; a curious account of were-wolves...". And includes the first English version of the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, p.85, "related as fact". . Second English Edition. Embossed Calf. Very Good/No Jacket, As Issued. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
