Pp. 96, 6 plates (4 coloured); demy 8vo; blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, edges of boards a trifle rubbed, the lower board flecked and lightly bruised at top fore-corner, spine slightly faded; t.e.g., others uncut; dust wrapper, lightly soiled and rubbed, edges chipped and split, with small piece torn from bottom edge of front panel near fore-corner; bookplate of David Levine, Sydney, and bookseller's sticker on upper pastedown, the free endpapers slightly offset, a little light foxing; Secker & Warburg, London, 1945. First edition, limited to 850 numbered copies, printed on handmade paper. *'This is the first occasion on which the designs of Mr. Henry Moore have appeared as direct illustrations to a text' [wrapper blurb] The Rescue was broadcast over two evenings from Thursday 25th November 1943. Both the text and the dramatic illustrations resonated with contemporary events in Europe.
