About This Item

Charles Scribner's, 1992. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. New/New. 2 B&W era photo sections; Decorated End Pages. CONDITION: NEW 1992 Charles Scribner's hardcover (teal boards) & dust jacket (in mylar cover), first edition, first printing. 2 B&W era photo sections plus decorated end pages. The scans were done with the mylar jacket in place - so any imperfections you might spy are the result of that. CONTENT: In this day of superstar reporters and TV giants, I submit that this object lesson is one for discussion by the likes of Rachel Maddow or Anderson Cooper. Davis was a celebrated war correspondent emulated by London, Crane, Dreiser, S. Lewis, and Hemingway - in their personal and professional life. However, in private Davis was unhappy being the son of a successful, strong-willed writer mother. His early marriage came at age 35 and was unconsummated. After his mother died, he divorced wife 1 and married a young vaudeville star. He died during World War I and has been all but forgotten. This book resurrects him for us. Fascinating.
