It is believed that the interests of the naval service can be materially advanced and much valuable information obtained by sending a competent naval constructor to Europe to make a tour of the dock-yards of England, France, Germany, and Italy, for the purpose of observing personally the improvements in naval architecture, particularly in the construction of steel vessels of war." 96 pages of text with photographs plus 47 foldout plates of maps and illustrations and diagrams of modern warships. Attractive bookplate of American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Stamped several times by the Office of Naval Intelligence. Front hinge professionally repaired. Bound in dark blue cloth with lettering in gilt. Evidence of removal of call letters on spine. Corners bumped. Very good. A very nice copy.
