Barton Esq, Threxton from his obliged friend R. N. Bacon" (Barton is mentioned in the preface on p. [vii] and Threxton appears in the text). Pp. viii, 412; lithographic portrait frontispiece, further lithographic portrait plate, numerous plates most of which folding (one folding plate inconspicuously repaired along fold], many in-text woodcuts including full page, various tables Publisher's brown textured cloth with blind-stamped decoration to the boards, gilt lettering to the spine, very good, cloth lightly marked. Contents good and tight, some scattered toning and spotting (varies depending on paper used); original yellow-coated end papers. A very good, signed association copy. Scarce.
