With 48 illustrations from paintings and drawings made by the author in 1890-91. London: Grant Richards, 1914 Cr.4to. 480pp. 32 colour plates, 16 black and white illustrations. "This record of travel in the South Seas was designed by Mr. La Farge as a continuous narrative,..." The author travelled to Hawaii, Samoa, Tahiti and Fiji. From the library of Philip Snow with his bookplate on the front endpaper and his original invoice for the book inserted. Spine and rear cover lightly faded, some tape marks on endpapers, a good copy of the UK first edition in the publisher's light green cloth with the mounted coloured illustration. We have been selling antiquarian books on Africa, Oceania, archaeology, anthropology, travel and the ancient world for over forty years.
