Published just two years before committing suicide in the face of accusations, which he vehemently denied, of falsifying results, Kammerer uses the endocrine system to illustrate the developmental power of "organic technology." Kammerer draws on the sensational results of his Vivarium colleague, Steinach, and the science of rejuvenation, which he claims is "forging ahead on the road to victory". Rejuvenation was a process which involved wholesale physiological change: the disappearance of wrinkles, alleviation of deafness, improvement in eyesight, restored appetite, luxuriant hair growth, as well as reawakening of the dormant libido.
