NY: MacMillan. Very Good in Fair dust jacket. 1900. First Edition. Hardcover. Original decorative red cloth/gilt, TEG. First edition, first state with the number "8" missing from the list of illustrations. Spine sunned and rubbed, few stains to rear board, points worn/exposed. Inscribed to the ffep by Allen to his friend Miss Sarah Barnwell Elliott, American novelist and advocate of women's rights. Papers split at hinges, but they are holding; rear hinge slightly loose. Of note because the boards are decorated with a marijuana leaf motif, the first use on a book. The scarce DJ is slightly sunned to spine, chipped at edges with shallow losses, split down the middle of the spine, and tape reinforced to verso, with creasing to edges.. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 385+ pages; Signed by Author .
