Little, Brown, 1969. 2nd Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fair. Slightly smaller book, dark blue cloth spine, light blue boards, very bright gilt lettering on spine, essays on: Susan Sontag, John O'Hara, John Hersey, J.K. Galbraith, E. Nesbit, Tarzan Revisited, Edmund Wilson, the Liberal dilemma, JFK and more. On first front end paper in blue ink: "To Bernie from Gore with affection," then flourish. DJ glossy beneath mylar with close-up b/w photo of younger Vidal at front right and back, title and author in yellow and brown-red on front. DJ has 1/4" tear and two small chips along top front edge, slight wear to bottom front tip, very slightly rubbed along front bookfold edge, very tiny tear with slight wear at spine top and bottom edge, tiny tear at top back edge, 3/8" tear at bottom back edge, slight rubbed line down back right. Fair DJ/Very Fine book.
