Colombo, Sri Lanka: Afro-Asian Writer's Bureau, 1967. 5x7", pictorial wraps, 59pp, Very Good condition, with little edgewear and some color transfer on the lighter rear cover. Opera set in 1939 during the War of Resistance Against Japan (WWII) about a communist party member who works for the railroad and resists the Japanese. Includes photos of the principals in scenes from the play.
Includes as foreword a letter from Chairman Mao congratulating the performers after a performance of a different production, "Driven to Join the Liangshan Mountain Rebels" in 1944.
