"A single Anglo-Irish family provides the extremely diverse characters." "The later scenes, with their violence, muddle, purpose and distraction, are so convincing that the reader breathes the very air of the sombre, rain-soaked Dublin streets." Iris Murdoch was a prolific author, publishing many novels during her life. Some of the others include 'Under the Net', 'The Bell', 'The Italian Girl', 'Henry and Cato', and 'The Sea The Sea'. In a black cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine, in an unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Minor shelfwear to the boards. Dustwrapper is generally smart, lightly rubbed in places. There are some chips and a closed tear to the rear as shown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

Synopsis

Iris Murdoch was born in Dublin in 1919 of Anglo-Irish parents, grew up in London and was educated at Oxford and Cambridge. She is the author of 26 novels and several works of philosophy. She died in 1999.
