Clean pages with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. Tightly bound with faint thumb marking throughout. Heavier tanning to free endpapers. Pen and pencil inscription and markings to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing and fraying to spine ends and corners. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate sunning to spine and edges. Visible wear marks to boards.

Light brown cloth boards with red and black sword and ribbon design on cover, stamped gold lettering on cover and spine. Light soiling and wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Beautiful old bookplate on front pastedown. Sloppy job by someone of old taping of title page at binding edge (see photo); otherwise, a pretty clean and solid book with nice black and white illustrations. 394 pages..
