New York: Miller, Orton & Co, 1857. Hardcover. G- (Ex-library, with usual library markings, bookplate on front inside cover, pocket remnant and discoloration at back inside cover, perforation stamp used on some illus., some random pages are foxed but the majority are clean or lightly tanned at top margin, front hinge on v.2 is loose, head of spine of v.2 has a horizontal tear, rebound bindings show minimal edge and corner wear but are grimy.). Tan cloth, library binding, 2 vols., 542, 563 pp., 25 BW plates. Samuel Griswold Goodrich (1793-1860) was a Massachusetts legislator and an American author who also wrote under the name Peter Parley.
