Higgins and Bradley, 1856-01-01. Leather Bound. Good. 1856 printing. Rebound in Three quarter leather. Exterior is extremely nice. Interior has heavy wear, several pages have torn/clipped corners. Previous owner's inscription on one of the free endpapers (dated 1858!). Charles Sumner (January 6, 1811 â March 11, 1874) was an American politician and United States Senator from Massachusetts. As an academic lawyer and a powerful orator, Sumner was the leader of the anti-slavery forces in the state and a leader of the Radical Republicans in the U.S. Senate during the American Civil War.
