Minor foxing and noticeable tanning to pages and plates. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers; visible red stain to broad text block edge. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with moderate staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has very heavy tanning with soft splitting and crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

A sturdy reading copy of a scarce title. Edward McGlynn (1837-1900) was an American Catholic priest whose political activism was controversial and led to his excommunication. He openly endorrsed the progressive economist Henry George and his socialist policies. However, McGlynn was reinstated by Pope Leo XIII in 1892.
