About This Item

Totowa, NJ: Rowman and Littleton, 1983. First American Edition. Near Fine/Very Good. First American edition, first printing. Signed by Karl R. Popper and inscribed "To Marianne and John, with love, from Karl." Marianne and John are presumably the Oxford physiologists Marianne Fillenz and her husband John Clarke. Fillenz was greatly influenced by Popper's work.

Bound in publisher's original black cloth with spine stamped in gilt, Near Fine, with the book's London publisher's name penned in Popper's hand to title-page above the American publisher's imprint; light browning to endsheets, foxing to textblock edge. In a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with a vertical crease to the rear panel near the flap and one to the front panel near the spine, creases to the flaps, edge wear with several short tears.
