About This Item
Winnipeg: Winnipeg Art Gallery, 1980. Paper bound, illustrated throughout, Pp97. Tight and clean - a very good or better copy. 15 grams. From the Foreword: Since the Winnipeg Art Gallery has one of the most comprehensive collections of Inuit Art in the world, we have a responsibility to publish our collection and to contribute to the general knowledge of this art form., In 1976, we undertook to do a yearly exhibition which concentrated on one settlement at a time. Thus far, we have presented exhibitions of Port Harrison/Inoucdjouac, Povungnituk, Repulse Bay, Cape Dorset and now, Rankin Inlet. One of the more important aspects of these exhibitions is the catalogue, It not only disseminates a record of our holdings but provides a basis of knowledge and insight into a particular community and their art. for this reason our catalogues in the field of Inuit Art are now in great demand. Most of these publications are reprinted within a few years. Eventually the settlement series will represent a mini encyclopedia of Inuit Art. We welcome all reasonable offers on our books. All books in stock and available for immediate shipment from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
