About This Item
Sampson Low, Marston & Company, Limited London, 1912. 2nd Edition. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. 127 pages (complete). Caldecott, who died in 1876 not quite reaching his 40th birthday, was a much regarded and admired artist and illustrator. He was able to include the Royal Academy, Van Gogh and Gaugin among his admirers. He frequently drew humorous drawings of fashionable society and this contribution is included here. The humour is ironic, satirical and although ascerbic, never unkind. The book has, at some stage, been rebound. This cover is grubby and worn. It has some buckling. Nonetheless it is secure. The front cover has the title inscribed upon it. The contents, taking their age into account, are in fair and genial condition. The pages are clean, clear, sure, content, welcoming and mischievous. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
