A new translation, with notes, by W. F. Smith. Rabelais has historically been regarded as a writer of fantasy, satire, the grotesque, bawdy jokes and songs. His best known work is Gargantua and Pantagruel. Rabelais is considered one of the great writers of world literature and among the creators of modern European writing. Complete in two volumes. Rebacked in cloth with the original cloth boards preserved. Externally, sound, though with some marks and some bumping. Discolouration to the spines. One hinge strained. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright, though with some slight marginal age-toning and scattered spotting. Good
