[ii]+vi+231pp, gilt ruled calf, gilt dentelles, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers, complete with the half title, contemporary marginalia ( ink crosses ), leather a little rubbed especially to the corners, hinges firm with a few small cracks, a nice copy. Colophon reads: Litterae, quibus impressus est hic liber, à P.S. Fournier juniore incisae sunt. A French edition of John Bond's well received annotated edition of the poems of Horace which was first published in 1606. Of Bond's Horace, John Brinsley, the author of Ludus literarius: or, The Grammar Schoole, recommended 'M. Bonde upon Horace; who hath by his paines made that difficult Poet so easie, that a very childe which hath been well entred, and hath read the former Schoole Authors in any good manner may go thorough it with facilitie, except in very few places'. John Bond [ 1550 - 1612 ] English physician and classical scholar.

Book grades are given book then dustjacket (if any) Running from F - Fine, VG - Very Good, G - Good, P - Poor. A fine book will look almost like the day it was bought, a VG one will have some evidence of prior ownership, G means a nice clean copy, obviously secondhand & P implies a COMPLETE copy that has suffered a hard life & will need some TLC. We take into account the books age when grading, so a 250 year old book graded as VG will look more second hand that a 5 year old book graded the same. On the Net since 1998. All prices are in GBP.
