Antwerp: Christophori Plantini (Idibus Martii), 1576, 1575. Hardcover. Very Good. Small octavo (175x115mm) blindstamped pigskin on wooden boards with 4 raised bands to spine and rolled tools of named bust portraits surrounding both covers + central crucifixion scene with 3 male onlookers to cover, Ressurection of Christ to rear cover + one of two decorated clasps and part of missing clasp still present. Lower cover bit browned, foot of spine slightly worn/some rubbing). Ownership slip on FEP (Jeremias Ekinger Sodalis maioris congregationis), Jesuit inscription at head of titlepage, 294pp, 2nd titlepage with Plantin caliper printer's mark +[2]pp blanks +230pp +[2]pp errata with final Plantin colophon, collated complete. Part I begins with 3pp on life of Horace, then the poems in italic fount with side notes and strophe markings. Clean, tight copy in very fine tooled binding (referenced by Adams H923).
