About This Item
London: Cassell & Co., 1958. First edition. Hardcover. Edges slightly foxed, else near fine copy/near fine. 8vo. Boards. Pp. 256. A novel about the Gallipoli campaign in the First World War. Years later a British soldier visits the Turkish penisula which he had first seen in 1915 when he landed on the terrible V Beach on Cape Helles, near Sedd-el-Bahr. He was one of the few to survive. All the rest were dead in the sea or on the shore. Many did not even get off their embarkation crafts.
