Paris: Marabout, 2014. (FR) Presumed 1st edition. No markings, Near Fine. Wraps with flaps, [168]pp, B&W phtoos of 1944 wartime France showing the lives of civilians and soldiers. Morris was born in New Jersy in 1916 and was charged with photographing the Western Front during the war. The text is entirely in French. Londres, juillet 44, les bombes pleuvent sur la ville. John G. Morris est photo-éditeur au prestigieux magazine américain Life où il est chargé depuis 1943 de la couverture photo de la guerre en Europe occidentale. C'est lui qui a sauvé onze images du reportage historique du débarquement en Normandie réalisé le 6 juin 44 par Robert Capa dont les films ont été endommagés au développement. John ne tient plus en place à Londres. Muni d'un appareil photo emprunté au bureau, il décide de partir pour la France. Pendant un mois, il va suivre la progression des troupes américaines, en Normandie, puis en Bretagne, accompagnant les photographes de Life Bob Capa, Robert Landry, Frank Scherschel...
