[10], 202, [2]pp. Uncut. 3/4 calf over marbled paper covered boards with gold lettering and tooling on spine and blind-stamped ruling on covers. Top edge gilt. Limitation page in red and black lettering. Color frontispiece portrait of Queen Anne protected with a captioned tissue-guard. Title page in red and black lettering. Publisher's vignette on title. Illustrated head-, and tailpieces. Decorative initials. A first and limited edition of this lavishly illustrated work on the reign of Queen Anne (1665-1714) who ascended the thrones of England, Scotland and Ireland on 8 March 1702. On 1 May 1707, under the Acts of Union, two of her realms, the kingdoms of England and Scotland, united as a single sovereign state, the Kingdom of Great Britain. This work is profusely illustrated throughout with numerous tissue-guarded duo-tone engravings. Limited edition of 800 copies on fine paper of which this is number 388. Moderate rubbing along edges of binding. Damp-staining at lower margin of back cover (not affecting text pages). Marbled paper partly creased and chipped at lower margin of back cover. Previous owner's bookplate on inside of front cover (Reginald Gurney). Moderate foxing on very first and very last pages. Sporadic and minor foxing throughout. Binding in overall good, interior in good+ to very good condition.
