TITLE CONTINUED: The Original Spelling and Language Being Retained, with Editorial Notes and Patterns of Flies, and Samples of the Materials for Making Each Fly. FIRST EDITION, SECOND ISSUE 1876, 4to, approximately 270 x 215 mm, 10½ x 8½ inches, 2 chromolithograph plates by John Day of watercolours after James Poole, 6 thick cards displaying 2 completed flies and 23 flies with dressing materials displayed in 22 sunken mounts, title page printed red and black, pages: xiii, [4], 1-91, text and mounts within 2 red borders, attractively bound in half green crushed morocco, matching cloth covers, gilt lettering, gilt rules and gilt flies between raised bands to spine, gilt rules to covers, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Slight rubbing to spine, pale age-browning to title page, pale foxing to 15 pages and to most of the boards holding the flies, plus small brown spot to 1 lower margin, small neat repair to 1 inner margin of text at rear, almost invisible, pale offset to text from the sunken cut outs holding the flies, vertical tear to upper wing of the last fly, but no loss.
