Pp. 96; small cr. 8vo; bound in later navy buckram, spine lettered in gilt, the boards a trifle bowed; uncut; later endpapers; the original printed green paper wrappers bound in, slightly soiled and foxed, with tiny chip near bottom fore-corner of upper wrapper; binder's sticker at foot of lower pastedown, scattered light foxing; Librairie Militaire de J. Dumaine, Paris, 1871. First edition. *From the library of Sydney bibliophile David Levine, with his bookplate on upper pastedown. The author, Edouard Fuzier-Herman (1847-1901) is described as 'Lieutenant au Regiment' [i.e. the Mobile Guard] on the title page but is listed as 'Capitaine' by Palat.
