About This Item
Philadelphia, 1809. [2],150,199pp. Original paper boards; front cover lacking. Titlepage darkened and dust soiled, lower forecorner curled. Scattered foxing, at times quite heavy. Else good, untrimmed. Clark, a former resident of New Orleans and business associate of Wilkinson, produced considerable testimony against the General in the course of the Burr trial, for which he was subjected to much abuse by Wilkinson partisans. He published this book to present his case and clear his own good name. He demonstrates that Wilkinson was receiving payments from the Spanish government, and that he was actively involved in the Burr Conspiracy and plots for the Southwest to separate from the Union.
