The first edition, first impression.In the original unclipped dust wrapper.A mystery novel in Phoebe Atwood Taylor's 'Asey Mayo' series.This novel sees Mayo retreating to the summer colony Pogue Neck after a hurricane wrecks havoc, upon which he discovers the body of a murdered girl.Taylor was an American writer whose first novel, 'The Cape Cod Mystery' was published in 1931.Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper, dated 1946. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Light bumping and fading to the head and tail of the spine, light bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is a little strained. Minor edge wear to the dust wrapper, with small chips and closed tears, including to the spine. Light age-toning and marks to the wraps. Two black ink marks to the rear wrap. Minor rubbing to the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the occasional scattered spot. Very Good
