About This Item
This book was originally published in 1991 as a companion volume to the Liturgical Commission's 1986 volume of services and prayers for Lent, Holy Week and Easter. The Liturgical Commission offered new versions and adaptations of existing traditional liturgies for the seasons. The books were widely welcomed by Anglicans of many varieties of churchmanship, and their acceptance seemed to mark a new awareness of the liturgy, the public worship of the Church centred around the celebration of the Eucharist, as the deepest source of authentic Christian piety. Devotional and more individual forms of worship are seen to have their place alongside, as a supplement of the liturgy, not a substitute for it.
