The first edition of cartoonist Osbert Lancaster's fictionalised account of the gentrification of a seaside resort The first edition. Illustrated by Lancaster with monochrome line drawings. In the publisher's original quarter cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. This work was written by Osbert Lancaster, an English cartoonist, historian and author. The novel is written from the point of view of an an enthusiastic and fictitious council employee, and features Lancaster's illustrations throughout. The work describes the town's metamorphosis from a poverty stricken fishing village to seaside metropolis. In the publisher's original quarter cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with only minor handling marks. Light offsetting and cockling to the endpapers. The wrap is smart with sunning to the spine, handling marks, minor chips to the head of the spine and light spotting. A tidemark to the verso. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with only the odd minor handling mark. Near Fine
