By Osbert Lancaster, English cartoonist and journalist who was a contributor to the Architectural Review during the time of publication.A first edition of Lancaster's account of the fictional seaside town 'Pelvis Bay'. Written by an an enthusiastic and fictitious council employee, and featuring Lancaster's illustrations throughout. The town's metamorphosis from poverty stricken fishing village to seaside metropolis is detailed.A former owner's inscription to the front pastedown, 'John N. Towlin'. In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. With the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally smart, with minor fading to the spine and light marks to the head of the front board. Former owner's inscription to front pastedown. Some tidemarks to the dustwrapper, with marks to front and rear and discolouration to spine panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
