New York: J. & H. G. Langley, 1841. Hardcover. Very Good -. iv, [[5], 14-376 p.; 19 cm. Dark green cloth with gilt-stamped spie title: Democracy in France. Blind-stamped decoration on both boards. Yellow endpapers. Former owner's name on front fixed endpaper: Grayson. Bookplate on back fixed endpaper indicating that this was given to the Washington County Historical Society by the Grayson Estate in June 1905. Copyrighted 1841 by Edward S. Gould in New York, suggesting that the American translator of Dumas' Gaule et France is Edward Sherman Gould (1808-1885). In Very Good- Condition: cocked; cover is lightly soiled; foxing, generally light; otherwise, clean and tight.
