[New York City], 1960. Near fine.. Program for one of the earliest happenings and the one first group happenings to be staged outside of a gallery environment. The performance included Al Hansen ("Lecture Event With Sight-Sound Stigmata" and "Pepsi-Cola, New Orleans Yellow Strip-Blue Dot Weimar Bauhaus Hoohah Jack Paar Moon"), Jackson Mac Low (John Bull Pack), George Brecht ("One Minute Piece," "One Minute Piece Again," and "One Final One Minute Piece"), Shimone Tomari ("Hand Music" and "David"), and Allan Kaprow ("Intermission Piece"), among others. Other performers and musicians listed include Lucas Samaras, John Cage, Morton Feldman, Elaine Booth, and others. Also prints a brief quote from Cage ("Art is its remembrances.") and a longer one from Kaprow (in part: "...We are only turning away from what should be left behind..."). Scarce ephemeral document from the burgeoning Fluxus and happening scene. [Glimcher & McElroy HAPPENINGS p. 311]. [Hendricks CRITICAL MASS p. 184]. Single 8.5 " x 11" typewritten (in all caps) sheet mimeographed recto only. Faint toning. A few shallow creases. Near fine.
