Washington, D.C.: GPO Book. Good. Soft cover. 1884, 28pp, three plates, tables. Wrps. Moderate soiling, else G+. The author, of the Corps of Engineers, submitted to the Engineer Department, United States Army, a series of papers containing information procured by him while on leave of absence in Europe during the summer of 1883. The titles of the articles: Perforation of Armored Walls; Determination of a General Formula for Remaining Velocity; Vienna Electrical Exposition, 1883. Captain Edward Maguire, (1847-1892), was an important figure in the Corps of Engineers. Among other accomplishments, he reached the Little Big Horn battlefield on June 27, and while the relief force tended the wounded and buried the dead, he mapped the field and the burial site. All Engineer reports on the Rosebud and Little Bighorn fights are recorded in the Annual Reports of the Chief of Engineers. Maguire¿s map became the basis for all maps of that historic battlefield..
