About This Item
Williamsburg, Virginia: Printing Office of Colonial Williamsburg, 1976. 28, 12 pages. A facsimile reprint hand set in Caslon type and printed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. It was the sixth in a series of reprints published by the Colonial Williamsburg Printing Office. The Convention elected delegates to the General Congress in Philadelphia in 1776 and adopted resolutions to prepare for the defense of the Virginia Colony and to provide for a militia to handle that defense. Attached to the Proceedings is a pamphlet, "A New Manual and Platoon Exercise," written by Edward Harvey, Adjutant General in 1764. The attachment of the pamphlet served to emphasize the seriousness of the delegates in preparing for war with England. This 1976 printing reproduces the 1775 edition published by Dixon and Hunter in Williamsburg. The book is in as-new condition.. Reprint. Paperback. Fine. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book.
