All page edges marbled. With bookplate of the collector and book seller Arnold Muirhead, and plate of the Rolle Family of Devon on the front pastedown. There is an ink dedication on the fep. With title page in red and black inks; more detailed overview title page; dedication to George, Prince of Wales - 5 pp; Preface 5pp;Table of contents 11 pp; and seven sections - all bar the first with separate title pages. Sections as follows: Table Talk of James I & C collected by Sir Thomas Overbury pp1-42; Religio Regis - title page dated 1715 pp 45-80; Advice of the Lord Verulam ...to King James I - title page dated 1715 pp 83-96; A Memorial presented to Queen Elizabeth ..written by William Cecil - title page dated 1714 pp 99-111; The State of a Secretaries Place and the Dangers Incident to it - by Robert Cecil - title page dated 1714, pp 115-120; Isocrates and his advice to Demonicus - title page dated 1715, pp 123-163; Isocrates's Discourse to a Prince on Kingly Government, title page dated 1715, pp 168-197. Finis. With decorative head and tailpieces and decorative initial capitals. The binding and contents are in very good condition.The binding has a little wear to corners and edges and a couple of faint scuff marks on the front board. Internally there is light browning towards page edges and the odd brown spot. A very good copy.
