Complete set of Jane Austen's brilliant 6 Novels bound in 5 volumes. From "Macmillan's Standard Illustrated Novels". In original publishers Red cloth covers with beautiful bright Gilt ornate decoration on fronts. The gilt decoration on spines is mostly faded. All page edges Gilt. Endpapers illustrated with a lovely deep yellow Peacock design. B&W Illustrations. Frontis illustrations all protected by tissue guards. Pride and Prejudice illustrated by Charles E. Brock and the other 4 volumes illustrated by Hugh Thomson.
First published betwen 1895 and 1897, Northanger Abbey is dated 1897 and the other 4 are 1898 reprints.
Spine colour faded. Some nicks and a littyle fraying at spine ends. Previous owner's inscription, dated 1899, on ffeps. and penciled bookseller note on back of ffep in Sense and Sensibility. No other inscriptions. Interesting newspaper cuttings from 1917 & 1918 on fly leaves of 2 volumes.
