New York: The Century Co, 1902. Signed and Inscribed by the Author. Hardcover. Good+ (Boards are edgeworn/scuffed/smudged; title card on spine is scuffed and has a small chip; textblock edges are lightly toned/scuffed/smudged; ifc has bookplate of former owner; interior is lightly toned but very clean; binding is solid.). Brown boards with red mounted title card on the spine, with gilt lettering; top-edge textblock gilt; 2 preliminary leaves, vii-xx, 485 pp.; illustrations (including facsimile). This book contains a tipped-in slip of paper, inscribed to Frederick Keppel, founder of famous print shop, Frederick Keppel & Co.and numbered "134" in pencil at the bottom, which may be an indication of the number of copies De Vinne had signed up to then. The bookplate is from his son, David Keppel's, personal library.
