np: L. T. Myerss. VG. (1916). Frontis shows a man's stable compared with homeless conditions. Green binding, gilt lettering & pictorial (rubbed). . American sociologist Nearing lectured at the Rand School of Social Science,NY, in 1916 and was the socialist candidate for Congress in NY (1919). Also wrote Social Adjustment (1911), Education in Soviet Russia (1926, War (1931) and Must We Starve? (1932), and then later in life went on to write many books about the good life when he lived in Vermont and Maine. He and his wife Louise became the gurus of a whole new back to the land generation in the 1960s & 1970s. .
