About This Item

[Hanover, New Hampshire]: The Hopkins Center, Dartmouth College, 1972. Unbound. Fine. Poster. Measuring approximately 19¼" x 28". Shrinkwrapped onto foamcore. Unexamined out of shrinkwrap but appears fine. Warmly Inscribed beneath the title: "Matthew Wysocki, from Walker Evans / 1972 Hanover / in commemoration and celebration (and gratitude)." Wysocki was the head of Dartmouth's Visual Studies Department and had been in charge of choosing artists for the residency from 1962. He wrote the introduction to the catalog for this exhibition. A nice association.

Walker Evans was a 1972 artist-in-residence at The Hopkins Center. This poster was issued in an edition of 100 signed and numbered copies as a 10th anniversary edition of The Hopkins Center; this copy is unnumbered. While the catalog for this exhibition is fairly common, the poster appears not to be. We locate no copies of the poster in *OCLC*.
