About This Item
New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. Very Good. 1996 first edition New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (Albuquerque, New Mexico), 8 1/2 x 11 inches tall stapled paperbound in blue and white glossy pictorial covers, copiously illustrated with black-and-white photographs and line drawings, [4], 47pp. Slight rubbing and edgewear to covers, with a small chip to the top edge of the front cover. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - of this uncommon work. ~MM~ [1.0P] Two early Paleocene (Torrejonian) mammals from the Nacimiento Formation, San Juan Basin of New Mexico, the oxyclaenine arctocyonid Chriacus and the mixodectid Mixodectes, are represented by a number of well-preserved partial skeletal elements from a single locality on the west flank of Torreon Wash. They are described, identified based on detailed comparisons, and analyzed in the context of other eutherians such as arctocyonids, various lipotyphlans, creodonts, carnivorans, rodents, plesiadaoiforms, tupaiids, and the family Galeopithecidae (Dermoptera).
