Seattle: Snow Goose Associates, 1978. (USA) One unused post card 5.5 x 8.5" of tapestry designed by Malaya Akulukjuk and woven by Kawtysie Kakee, 1990 with the imprint of Snow Goose Associates in Seattle WA. There are to staple holes to the card, no writing. As well there is aletter with the letterhead of Snow Goose Associatesdated June 10 1978. The letter is handwritten and signed by Jane Schuldberg to Lorne Balshine asking about "Greenland Eskimo items". Balshine was a collector and exhibitor of Inuit art for over 35 years. He was first introduced to Canadian Inuit art by his sister in 1969. He has devoted much of his life to the procurement and promotion of contemporary Inuit sculpture as fine art rather than native or ethnic art.Much of his collection of contemporary Inuit sculptures is on public display at YVR. The collection consists of 75 sculptures that record the Inuit oral culture in the themes of wildlife, survival, traditional beliefs, family life and acculturation.He died in 2012.
