About This Item

London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, 1887. Hardcover. VG-, slight soiling and wear to covers, t.e.g., pages untrimmed.. Red cloth (not original, but old) with gilt spine lettering; TEG. ix, 1302 pp. over 400 bw illus. with tissue guards over each plate. These racehorses have been winners in the three classic British races, Ascot, Goodwood and Doncaster cups, as well as other cups, stakes, and matches throughout the kingdom. Presented in strictly chronological order with their respective pedigrees and performances recorded in full. These volumes are in quite good shape, inside and out. The red cloth binding is quite strong and utilitarian, and in excellent shape. Which is another way of saying this extremely scarce set would really benefit from a trip to the bindery for some full leather treatment!
