Circa 1910, SMALL format 100 x 72 mm, 4 x 2¾ inches, photographic portrait of the author as frontispiece, standard coloured illustration to title page of queen with lilies and an open book, pages: (4), 1-220, bound in original publisher's white card with red title and repeat of coloured title vignette, blue lettered to spine, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. No inscriptions, a touch of wear to head and tail of spine, otherwise a near Fine bright clean copy still in the original plain glassine dustwrapper, slightly worn and slight torn. This work originally formed the substance (with additions) of two lectures delivered at Manchester, July 10th and 13th, 1857. Contents: I. Discovery.--II. Application.--III. Accumulation.--IV.
