About This Item
George Bell, 1900. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG. HEATH ROBINSON, W.. 1st Thus. 13.5 x 20.9 cm khaki cloth with green and gilt decoration and titles to the front and spine with the publisher's divice to the spine. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut, pictorial endpapers, xxxv [iii] 225 [3]pp with black line illustrations including tissue guarded frontispiece by William Heath-Robinson. A touch of toning to the spine and a little rubbing to the spine tips and corners with small splits in the cloth in the lower joint at the head of the spine and along the foot of the spine. Internally there is some splitting to the endpapers with the the loose paper glued down and the binding remains firm. There is a gift inscription dated in the year of publication on the blank following the front free endpapers and two 'from the the publisher' stamps on the title page. Internally there is a little spotting, mainly to the prelims and last couple of pages and the edge of the text block. All in all a beautifully illustrated 1st Edition.
