About This Item
Chicago, IL: W.B. Conkey Co, 1883. Hardcover. Very Good. 5 X 7 1/2 Inches. 160 PP. First printing of the poem "Solitude", which contains the lines "Laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone."<br /> <br /> Orignal decorated cloth binding with the gilt illustration of the cherub in cover illustration. Light rubbing to the edges and spine ends. Wilcox is rather a devisive figure in American poetry with many critcs despising her work and others revering her mostly simplistic poetic style. I tend to side with the praise as her work simply resonates with me (as it did for Kerouac I might add).
