About This Item
New York: New Directions, 1998. Paperback. Small 8vo. Stiff glossy pictorial wrappers. 248pp. Near fine. Teensiest bit of spotting to outer page edges. A tight and attractive first softbound edition of this collection by the late prolific American poet (1926-2005), who boldly inscribes and signs the title page "for Bill Pauly / With my best, / Robert Creeley / 5/1/99." Pauly (1942-2021), who signs the inner front wrapper, was an Iowa academic and poet especially well known for his haikus.
