About This Item
London: Faber and Faber, 1950. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 9" by 6". None. A very smart, first edition poetry collection by American poet Robert Lowell. With the original unclipped dustwrapper. Robert Lowell wrote a lot about his family history through his poetry. His upbringing in Boston also informed his creative work, as his poems were frequently set in Boston and the New England region. A very smart collection of poems, of which the first seventy pages were first published in America under the title 'Lord Weary's Castle'. Several of the poems previously appeared in another of Lowell's books titled 'Land of Unlikeness'. Lowell notes to the start of the work 'here and there elsewhere I have adapted lines and phrases. In the publisher's original cloth binding. With original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Dustwrapper is generally smart with sunning to the spine. Light chips to the head and tail of spine. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
