David Valjalo (Iquique, 1924 - Santiago, 2005), was a Chilean poet, essayist, narrator, anthologist, who lived outside of Chile for 30 yeas, (1960 - 1990), with much of that time spent in Los Angeles, CA. He was editor of the magazine Chilean Literature in Exile (later Chilean Literature, Creation and Criticism) in Los Angeles, California, and in Madrid, Spain. His poetry has been translated into English, French, German, Romanian, and Portuguese. While in Los Angeles, Valjalo was director of the California Chamber Theater where he presented classical theater and poetry exhibitions, shows that received praise from the Los Angeles Times. Cultural Ad Honorem was added in California between 1970-1973. He was also Director of the Society of Writers of Chile and Vice President of the Ateneo de Santiago. Poeta, ensayista, narrador, antologador. Residió fuera del país por treinta años (1960 - 1990). Editor de la revista Literatura Chilena en el exilio, posteriormente llamada Literatura Chilena, Creación y Crítica, publicación que cumplió catorce años de edición ininterrumpida, en Los Ángeles, California, y en Madrid, España. Su poesía ha sido traducida al inglés, francés, alemán, rumano y portugués. Director del Teatro de Cámara de California donde presentó teatro clásico y Exposiciones de Poesía en el Escenario, espectáculos que merecieron elogios de Los Angeles Times. Fue agregado Cultural Ad Honorem en California entre 1970-1973. Ha sido Director de la Sociedad de Escritores de Chile y Vicepresidente del Ateneo de Santiago.
