Boston, MA: James Munroe and Company, 1843. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo. viii, 368 pp. Bound in green cloth, title and decoration in gilt on spine, blind decoration to front and back covers. Black and white frontispiece and half title illustrations. Added title page dated 1843. Known as the "Sweet Singer of Hartford", Sigourney (1791-1865) was a successful and popular poet, travel writer and essayist during her lifetime. Pleasant Memories of Pleasant Lands is an account, in poetry and prose, of her travels through Great Britain in 1840 and her visits with William Wordsworth, Joanna Baillie, Samuel Rogers, Thomas Carlyle and Maria Edgeworth. Very Good, mild fading to spine, rubbing to corners and head and tail of spine, inscription in pencil on front free endpaper, discoloration to middle of front free endpaper and front pastedown, small brown stain to text of pages 159-170, small brown stain to margins of pages 287-312. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
